Okay guys! Here's my minimalist approach! If you know me you know I like to keep it simple!

First off, I found a 1 gallon bowl from Walmart, with tax $6.45.

Small bag of natural sand from Petsmart $6.90.

Left over Seiryu stones from the 12L project $0.

Left over aqua soil from the 12L project $0.

Some dwarf hair grass from dantheguppyman
$0.

Left over PVC laying around the house $0.

Total project cost: $13.35!

Here's some pics of the steps!

You're welcome. There were several of us working on the idea (Dantheguppyman and billbug) maybe some more. I didn't mean to leave anyone out if I did.

Can't wait to get my substrate and light!

Arrrrgh you left me out! So angry! Jk.

Here's my "bowl" that I got from Target. Looking for the perfect pieces of DW

Probably wont have much more than Eco or Flourite for substrate. Blyxa, Hydrocotyle (a la Brian), Anubias, and some Hygrophila pinnatifida

I will have some start up pictures later!

I'm looking around my house now lol! Here's the options I've come up with..
I'm leaning towards the tallest one so that I might be able to put some shrimp or some small fish? What do you guys think?

Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with! :)

This looks amazing! What aquatic life do you plan to keepin it? Could you do a shrimp bowl like this without a filtration system?

Is it too late to jump aboard? I've been debating trying my hand at plants and think this would be the perfect opportunity for me to give it a go!

Never too late to jump aboard. :) give it a shot! You'll probably love it!

Looks good Bill! Love the iwugami(sp?) style. :)

Tall one! Going to be easier for water quality! and it's pretty!

Thank you! :) I suppose you might be able to do shrimp as they have close to no bio load. A heater might be needed for certain species. I thought of using a under gravel heater, but was trying to keep cost down. I'll probably just throw some ghost shrimp in there, they're super cheap and very active.
