Umm... Not to be rude, but does your friend know what they are getting and how much daily maintenance is involved in a tank. Not to mention a planted tank even more so? I mean they have to have space and time for it.

I have informed them of the maintenance. I have specifically made that clear. Luckily this aquarium is pretty easy to maintain. I have two aquariums of my own setup this way. Weekly water changes, 3 month filter time and no co2. Also daily feeding and lighting. Did I mention no gravel cleaning.
