What is the easiest plants to grow in a freshwater fish tank?

Java fern, java moss, anubias, crypts, jungle val and amazon swords.

Java fern would be my go too plant. It is bullet proof. I literally throw bunches of it away every couple of months because its so easy to grow. Doesnt need any substrate, just attach to a rock or piece of driftwood to weight it to the bottom.

This is a good video on plant types that are easy to grow, and the channel did an excellent low tech planted tank series (episode 1 also attached).

Works ok for me. Try searching for big als easy plants on youtube app or site and go there direct.

Ok so I am till searching plant to plant in my tank
I don’t want to change my substrate.
I have gravel in my tank so what can grow in gravel? I don’t want anything that floats

All of the plants mentioned above will grow in gravel. The rooted plants (amazin swords, crypts and vals) will benefit from root tabs. The rhyzome plants (java fern, and anubias) and the moss should be fixed to rock or driftwood to weight it down.

The easiest plants are usually Java Moss, Java Fern and Anubias. Amazon Swords are also quite easy plants.

Just ordered jungle Val, Amazon sword, Ludwigia sp red/Ludwigia palastris, java fern, Anubias hastifoila, and got this one free cryptocoryne Lucan Now hopefully I can get them all in my tank. I think my eyes was bigger then my brain Which was telling me I’m getting too many. Lol. May have to take some decor out in order to fit all in. Lol

Nope. attached to driftwood.

Java fern for me. Grows easily and straight forward to maintain.

I love anubias and bucephalandra and really want to get more. My buce seems as easy and hardy to me as the anubias, and it is great for detail in an aquascape. Looks like little bushes.
