I have these plants, forgot the name. They keep growing roots on the shoots. I cut the real long ones and planted them. Do you think this means they are thriving? I don't want to cut the shorter ones where there just stubs, even though they are rooting. New with plants my last set different species just died and rotted. I added in the new tank a plant soil substrate. What do you think?

I believe I have the answer. The roots grow were they can find the most nutrients. The leafy part no longer has the roots growing, now that I've got them in a plant nutrient substrate, thus roots are staying underground.
