Pond snails

What is the best snail for an outside pond?

It really depends upon where you live and how cold the temperature of the pond gets in the winter.

I live in south dakota, USA winters usually range from 20 degrees F to single digits. Does that narrow it down?

Tell you the truth, I don't really know of any right off. Most of the snails eaisly found at fish stores are tropical so they wouldn't make it through the winter. Maybe someone else will know of some cold hardy snails.

I live in ohio and the winters here go into the neg numbers and my snails are fine every year. I got them from the local park. I dont know what they are but they are swirl shaped and have like a door when they go in there shell. The biggest ones are the size of a golf ball.

The big one looks weird cause he is covered with algee

Hmmm that sounds good I'm sure I can find from local snails that will love my pond thanks!
