I'm quite new to keeping tropical fish and yesterday I bought a red honey gourami from my local aquatic centre when I got home and put it in the tank I noticed some of its tail missing and was wondering if it might be fin rot?

I've attached a photo if anyone can be of any help?

Yes looks like fin rot. Make sure you keep your water extra clean and you can get meds for it too. I try and solve everything with clean healthy water first just make sure it doesn't get worse.

Is there any chance if it spreading to my other fish?

It's not uncommon for a fish from an LFS or LPS to have fin rot. It's not contagious, at least not in my experience. If your tank water has correct parameters (ammo, nitrItes & nitrAtes) & is kept clean the fin rot will heal.
