Here is an update of my tanks. Pictures above were from exactly 6 months ago, as of yesterday.

Went all-natural in the 33 gallon community tank. Live plants with DIY CO2 injection, Flourish Comprehensive, Trace and Excel, and LED 6500k flood lights. Tank contains 5 rosy tetras, 6 sunset platys, 3 dwarf flame gouramis, 3 african dwarf frogs, 4 blue botia loaches and an albino bristlenose pleco. Very cool group!

Got the stand built and the 55 gallon African cichlid tank put together. Everyone is hiding in this pic, but there's 4 yellow labs, 3 rustys, 2 cobalt blues, 1 red zebra, 2 OB zebras, 1 albino, a red tail shark, crayfish and an albino bristlenose pleco.

Terraphyte Tank

Hello AA...

Guess this thread wouldn't be complete without a pic of an experimental tank. This one's been running a few months with nothing more than some emersed land plants to keep the tank water pure.

Got tired of removing and replacing half the tank water every week, so these plants now do the work of the water changes. Have the standard filtration, but the plant roots take in the nitrogens faster than my good bacteria.

Anyway, the tank is essentially maintenance free.

Hello Bri...

Yes. I have about 100 Fancy Guppies in this tank. I need them to produce the nitrogens the emersed plants need to grow. The fish provide the ferts, the plant roots take in the ferts and maintain pure water conditions for the fish.

Actually, this 38 G experiment worked so well, I planted my other tanks too.

Nope bought it from eBay had to silicone it in place because it was a little short and drill the holes for the circulation pumps
