Potassium permanganate

I have some plants that I would like to move from one aquarium to the other. However, the tank I'd like to move them from has had a couple of unexplained black Mollie deaths, so I'm thinking disinfecting the plants will be a must. I've read about potassium permanganate a little, but will it actually kill bacteria that could be living on the plants? Hoping that followed by a good long rinse should remove potential hazards???

Yes it does a great job of killing pathogens and whatever else may be on the plants. I use it on my plants and sometimes send it with packages.
