Prefilter foam

My shrimp are getting just about big enough to start breeding and I can't find pre filter foam that you put on the part of the filter that actually sucks in the water does anyone know where to get these

Welcome to AA!! I am sure there are specially made prefilter foam options available but I tend to use whats practical and readily available. I use filter foam (sponge) such as Aquaclear/Fluval 70 and cut a piece to fit over the bottom of your intake tube. Simple and keeps creatures and fish out. Just give it a rinse once a week in some old tank water to remove debris (it will catch alot). Replace it as needed. Please ask if you have questions!

How strong is your filter? I have Amazon.com: Pre-Filter Sponge 3 Pack for Fluval Edge Aquarium: Pet Supplies in my 10 gallon on an aqueon 10 hob and it does not seem to block any flow but it has become my course mechanical filtration for the tank (even though it is not so course).

I have a quiet flow filter that came with my with my aqueon tank it's not that powerful but it's enough to suck up baby shrimp
