Protein Skimmer or Surface Skimmer

Hi i have a 30 gallon SW tank with a Fluval 305 filter, I chose this filter because my aquarium is aginst the wall and it looks cleaner. but I want to know what is better a surface skimmer or a protien skimmer??? I don't really like protein skimmer because they are ver big. is there a mini protein skimmer???

not really. any skimmer you hang on a 30 gallon tank is going to appear large. what problem are you having? a film on the surface? just aim a power head upwards towards the surface and it should correct that.

I see a lot of film like oil on the surface

yep. just aim a power head towards the surface to agitate it. it will put that film in the water column where it can be filtered out.
