I am currently setting up a new (to me) 10 gallon tank for cherry shrimp my substrate is blue play sand and I bought a purple sponge because it kind of matches my substrate. I was thinking it was surely safe to use as it was meant to be used with water. But now the time comes to make the filter and I'm chickening out. I know its made to be used with water. But will prolonged exposure cause it to leech out dyes or other chemicals? So my question is will this work with out endangering the tanks futurhttp://s276.photobucket.com/user/ho...6C-1193-0000019B539E1DF6_zps6c486359.jpg.htmle occupants? If I can't get a definite answer as to it being safe It's not a big deal I'll use it with my car and just buy one of the inexpensive sponge filters.
