Rainbows

Went to the most LFS, and they had the prettiest red rainbow! I had to have him or her? How do I tell the sex difference? And in your experiences, what are their downfalls? It is the biggest fish in the tank, next is a GBR. Thanks!

Rainbows are awesome! I would say the downfall in your case is that you have pretty small tanks and they are very active fish! Other than that they are peaceful and hardy

You probably have Glossolepis incisus. Beautiful fish, but they will need at least a 55-gallon tank. The females are nowhere near as red as the males; females actually look brownish. Males are vertically larger, too, and the intensity of the red changes with water temperature.
