I have something that looks like red dust covering the rocks in my tank.
there is a little on the glass

any idea?

How do I get rid of it

It's now green

A quick fix is chemi clean or increase flow to that area and suck up as much as possible whenever you see it.

Increase flow and if you're cycling you can keep your lights off.

Is the Chemi clean the same as Ultralife red slime remover? I have read a few post say that their skimmerd go crazy when using this kind of stuff. Is it best to turn off tbe skimmer till treatment is finished?

Definitely turn off the skimmer.
