So, im getting some tomorrow and im wondering if i need to do anything special to get them use to my water? or is it the same for shrimp as fish?

Drip acclimation is a better than good idea. I would feed them right after putting them in as well.
 
you shouldnt feed them after you put in the tank. let them get used to the tank at least 24 hours and feed them about every 3 days. remember these guys are scavengers in the wild so they arent used to a constant 24/7 food source like fish.

If acclimated correctly(i drip over a period of hrs myself)there's no reason not to provide them with minimal food...just don't overfeed...once every 3 days is fine for a small population but larger populations may require more food...in a mature aquarium bio-film should be present providing a nice snack in between feedings.
