Hello all,

I am going to toss my eclipse 3 hood so I can upgrade to better lights for a planted tank. I was curious what kind of filtration system you guys would recommend. I was thinking about a HOB filter, but I'm worried that the inflow tube won't reach the deeper parts of my tank. I am also considering an eheim canister. Can you adjust the depth on a canister? Are there extension pipes that fit on to the inflow? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the canister is in your budget, I'd say go for it. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, I'd suggest an Aquaclear 70. It comes with 2 intake tubes; you can either just use one, or add both (they fit together) for a deep tank.

*edit* Rather than toss the Eclipse hood, I think you should list it on Craigslist. Someone that doesn't have a planted tank would probably be willing to pay for it. :)
