Rinsing sand and dry base rock?

Would it be alright to use tap water for this, or should I use RODI?

its hard to use RODI water as it moves slow. i wouldn't see why its not alright to use tap water, just let it dry and let it cycle before you add live stock to the aquarium

I know I couldn't rinse as it exits the RODI, but I could fill a barrel with RODI and use the water in that to wash the dry rock and rinse the sand in five gallon buckets. But I would really hate to make up that much RODI just for rinsing.

i think youd be fine with tap to rinse dont waste your rodi

I'd use tap as well, don't think there'd be enough impurities to adversely affect your tank from rinsing them
