Welcome to the world of aquariums, where everyone has a different opinion!!! I do not regularly put salt in my freshwater tank, only my brackish tank. In my freshwater tank, I save the salt for treating diseases.

Ok got another Q I have the old fashions tanks and the bubbles from my bubble wand spray bubbles on the lid and this drips every where I want something like glass to put in direct contact with the tank rim so the water is sprayed on to the glass instead of the lid if I used glass will this affect any of the light that goes into my tank or is it going to be like nothing it there

Bubblers in Aquariums

Hello Shane...

Unless you really like the bubble effect, airstones don't do a good job of aerating your tank. All you need is a power filter with a gallon per hour (gph) rating about 6 times the volume of your tank.

I simply increased the size of my power filter a little and was able to remove the airstones and air pumps.
