I had the same issue. I added a fighting conch to my tank and he has kept my entire sand bed clean. Plus my kids love watching him.

I found that my lfs sells strawberry conchs are they the same as fighting conchs?
 
I have had my fighting conch for about 4 months and he leaves my coral, inverts, and fish alone. I am not familiar with the strawberry conch characteristics. Of course as mentioned previously, increased flow is the optimum solution.
 
I bet they can do some damage with that spike on the end of their foot if they get u with it. The conchs that is
