I may change to pool filter sand in my 5 gal betta tank in the next days but I have some questions about my plants. I have

1 java fern
Anacharis stems (planted in the gravel)
Elodea stems (floating)

Question is, will the anacharis and the elodea plants do well with the sand? Also the 5 gal was one of those tetra kits with the thin lid and an LED strip. The LED brightness is kinda decent and my plants are green and growing at the moment at least, do you think I'll need to improve the lighting in the tank for these plants? If I do I would have to get a new hood cause that one you can't customize the light. Here is a pic of the tank:

The will do fine in sand and if they are growing well and look healthy with the light your using you don't have to upgrade.
