Sea squirt question

So I got a piece of live rock that came with a sea squirt on it, lately it hasn't been open and now is turning white! And clue what's going on?

If it's on it way out can I cut it from the rock?

was it exposed to air ? sea squirts don't like air like some other inverts
hard to tell by picture if it's healthy or not
