My serpent star who I have had for 2 years now has moved to the top of my rock work, lifted its body up as high as it could and released a white substance through vents on the sides of its body. The lights are on, I just did a water change with slightly warmer water then the tank's water. I thought initially he was expelling waste but it seemed weird for him to do it in the light Does anyone know this behavior is?

I've never witnessed that behavior myself, but it certainly sounds like it's attempting to spawn. The water temp change could possibly have triggered it. Monitor your tank/water params closely, and running GAC would be a good idea too. Congrats :)

^thats what I was thinking, I did another small water change after he was done just in case. I'll keep a close watch on it but I have a lot of filter feeders in my tank so I'm sure it'll get cleaned out of the water pretty quick anyway.
