Was going to set up a Q-tank today, and realized I need to collect some bacteria first. It's a ten gallon and I bought a Fluval Underwater filter 1Plus. How long shall I run this in the main tank? Two weeks ok?

I usually don't go this route, but decided I should start. Will the filter be enough Or should I put something else in there as well for the bacteria to cling to?

TIA

I use a biowheel which is about the same. I would think 2-3 weeks would be good. You should be fine. I was told on my 40 gallong to use a biowheel and put it in a high flow area where bacteria will thrive.

Grab a handful of sand/gravel from the main to seed the QT or just put in about 10 pounds of live rock. That will give you the bacteria.
