Shell dwellers tanks and tips

Hi guys, as my first post on here thought I'd ask for some advice on shell dwelling cichlids. I have a 60L tank running at the moment with a few platys in it but I want to set it up as a shell dwellers tank. Can anyone offer any tips / advice when setting up such a tank? I have a sand substrate already and I live in a hard water area.

Can anyone show me any pics of their tanks for set up ideas?
