If you are looking to get rid of algae, amano shrimp would probably be your best bet. However, it is always best to try to get the roots of the problem and to get it sorted out instead of just getting inhabitants to try to make the problem go away.
Need to know the type of algae and see a picture of it because algae eaters are specific about the types of algae they eat and some types of algae no algae eater will eat. Can you post a picture of the algae for identification?
