My betta has had some bad fin rot. He has been treated with Kanaplex, Maracyn and Maracyn II and is now going through a cycle of Furan 2 and Kanaplex. (This has all happened over a month or two).

The water has had 1 tsp per gallon of salt for a little over a week.

He is eating, not showing any signs of bloat. The fins that were affected have fallen off but otherwise it isn't getting worse at the moment. BUT he is laying around and hiding in his cave.

Is there a time limit on the salt?

Thanks!

You are going to want to do water changes constantly and I don't think that using that much salt is healthy for him. Fin rot is a horrible affliction for the betta and I'm afraid that it's a hit or miss when it's become that chronic of a problem. If I were you I would stop with salt, completely refresh your water, do at least a 50% change each day, use marcynoxy as recommended and make sure there is a gentle oxygen source and keep the tank darkened to reduce stress... Good luck
