Skimmer

I have a Coralife skimmer I think it's a 75g! I just set up my 29g Reef tank last Saturday when should I put it in my sump? Also I've noticed that I'm losing about 1/2 gallon a water a day from evaporation does this sound about right? Can I slow it down any? Thanks

Put it in now...
No reason to wait.
It could take a week or more to break in....
Evap sounds ok...
Surface movement makes water evap...
