1) I was told to cover the bottom of my tank with eggcrate to keep the rock from damaging the glass. This makes sense to me, do you all do this?
2) Thoughts on the best way to set up the refugium in my sump?
3) I love the look of aquatic plants and my LFS has small Kelp plants available. Pros and cons to making it an addition to my tank?
Thanks in Advance!
1) you don't have to, but it's not a bad idea. it protects the glass under it from cracking when you place the rocks.
2) this is the way a lot of people do it and it works really well. If your not doing a DIY tank sump, what pre made one do you have?
3) well, you'll have a lot of Green in your refugium, but if you want it in the dt, get halimedia. It's a macro that uses calcium to grow, so it's easier to take care of.
Someone in the club I'm in has them and they think theyre great. Very sleek.

You could do 100% lace rock and it will become liverock which is how I did my 20 extra high to keep all hitchikers out so it just depends how fast you wanna cycle, how many hitchikers you want, and how much your willing to pay lol
