I was on angelsplus.com looking at the sponge filters for an "instant cycle" of my 3 month old uncycled tank. I had a question for them since I have a HOB filter, he said I could hook the sponge on the HOB uptake, is that possible? How else can I use the sponge filter?

If the sponge filter has a wide circumference it won't fit, as HOB intake tubes are usually about 1" from the back of the tank. Why not leave the HOB alone and just run an air-line to the sponge filter?

You can either run it separately or cut it up and place it in your hob. Running it separately leaves you the option of using it in the future to setup a quick qt or helping to cycle another tank.

What supplies do I need for an airline? I am not familiar with them.
