Starting New 25 gal Tank

I plan to start a 25 gal Fresh tank. interested in 1 large fish but not sure what can fit the tank

Just one fish.
You'll want one with personality that won't grow to big.
An African cichlid, for example.

How about a convict?

I'm also wondering why just one. If the tank were bigger, there would be more choices for fish with personality. In a 25g, you are limited when you want just one big fish.

How about one school? Maybe some type of tetra?...

I'll be interested in hearing what you decide. My brother once kept 3 firemouths cichlids in a 20 gallon for years, they were very cool.

3 firemouths? That might be a route I would take. The reason I only wanted only one fish was just a matter of size. I figured that I would have a greater selection with fewer fish in such a small setup. It is a hand-me-down tank from friend who got out of the hobby years ago.
