strange worm? eggs? coral?

i just noticed saw this today.. it appeared overnight, it is white and looks like a series of loops.. does anyone have an idea what it might be?

I agree ^

Cerith snails lay eggs in ribbon trails like that. I wouldn't be overly concerned. Chances are they will be eaten by other tank inhabitants.
 
is it possible that they may hatch into new snails? or is that a long shot in captivity.. is there anyway to set the conditions so that there is a greater chance of that happening (i could use some new snails anyway)
 
Depends on the snail that laid them. If they are ceriths, I believe they reproduce pretty well but other snails do not. Some snails have a platonic stage and just do not do well even if the fish or other inverts do not pluck them off before they get a chance to hatch.
