Hi all,
I am wanting to add more carbon to my filtration systems. I have two people tell me two different thing, and in my opinion they both know their stuff. One say that I can pack a Phosban 150 with carbon and my tank will be fine. The other is telling me that I will wind up killing all of the bacteria in my tank in a short period of time. Any thoughts? I can't for the life of me figure out how the carbon would eliminate the bacterial colonies in my tank.

Carbon does nothing unless you're removing meds or a bad smell (and a few other specific purposes). It's simply a waste of money to run all the time since it's doing nothing. It's not going to hurt anything though. Whoever told you that it will kill your bacteria is wrong.
