So, I am considering moving from my 36 gallon bow front to a 50 or 60 gallon.

The main question I have...

In the 36 gallon, I used white rocks. I can't stand them! So, I am wondering if there is a safe way to keep all the good media without using the rocks that I have in the 36 gallon.

Ideally, I would like to use sand this time.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

:)

Hi! Are the white rocks the gravel? If so, you can put them in and then cover them with new gravel :)

Yeah they are the gravel.

I was thinking I could do that...since it's a larger tank. Just spread it all out and then blanket it.

Thanks!

When I upgraded from my 29g to my 75g I just took an already seeded filter cartridge and put it in my new aqua clear 110 filter to seed the tank. I changed substrate and didn't move any decor. I added my fish the next day. It took about a week and a half with water changes (30-40%) every couple to 3 days before my tank stabilized but I had no major jumps in ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate. API test kit was my best friend though.

Cool thanks!

My other thought was to keep the 36 and just seed the newer tank with media. Just start fresh.

Maybe ever a saltwater venture. Lol.
