Amazon.com: 30 in. Nova Extreme T5 HO Freshwater Aquarium Light Fixture - 2 x 24W: Pet Supplies

got a 20g long, didnt really care for coral but i would like a nice lighting set up anyways

is 4 bulbs too much? right now i just want a blue tint in my tank and a nice looking color, as well as promoting growth on my hitchhikers

also how do the lights work, do you leave the bright ones on during the day and the blue tint on during the night

also what can i do to cover the top if i have this fixture? i have 2 snails that are constantly going to the water edge and almost escaping but my hood stops them, this is a concern

What hitchhikers are you trying to grow? I ask becasue that may impact whether you want to go for a 2 or 4 bulb fixture.

The LEDs are moon lights and do nothing really for your tank; they are for your enjoyment. They are good for looking at your tank at night time and are blue. They won't do much to overcome the daylight bulbs. (In other words, the tank will still pretty much look white if you have all the lights on. The night lights won't be noticable.)

The T5HOs are the ones that actually will illuminate the tank. The bulbs in the fixture at the link you sent are both daylight bulbs. One is "whiter" than the other. If you're after a blue color in the daytime, you'll want to switch out the "freshwater" lamp for a blue bulb.

I responded to your other thread on the same subject. You will get better help if you dont post multiple times for the same question.
