I have a 24g aqua-pod sitting idle. I was thinking of setting it up with an anenome and clown and perhaps one other fish. Any opinions on whether or not the 24 is big enough for that?

Ideally I would have the anenome, a pair of clowns, and a yellow clown goby. (I LOVE those fish!) LR and some Xenia or other coral.

Also - I've heard it said anenomes should only go into mature systems - How will I know when the tank is ready?

I do not think the 24gal aquapod have enough lighting to keep and anemone long-term. However, most soft corals and some LPS should be just fine.

This is correct. A general rule of thumb is to have a stable tank running with out problems for 8-12 months prior to adding an anemone.
