Afternoon all

I have a 400l heavy planted tank and I am looking for ideas of good tank mates.

The tank currently had
30 rosey barbs
1 whether loach (i know they prefer friends be he is 12 years now)
2 Hill stream when I can find them
3 fantail porthole catfish
5 peppered cory

I am looking for something thats a mid tank fish to add a different colour to the roseys.

I use to have some angel fish but lost them to what I can only associate to an unhealthy batch as I treated and checked the tank daily and still lost them unfortunatly (no signs of ill health on any when I recovered them)

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Pic of tank for reference

Before anyone comment new light is on order bulb went 2 days ago and the tank is tanned as the bog wood is still leaching 12 months on

I would have thought 30 fully grown rosy barbs would be overstocked in a 400l tank. Personally i would be looking at taking fish out, not adding more in.

They are fully grown and you barly see them in the tank half the time, plus it is over filtered with 2 600l oase biomasters

But I understand what your saying when I did the calculations on stocking it didn't say I was anywhere near over stocked

Are you sure they are rosy barbs? They get to 6 inches.

You might be right they were sold as rosey barbs by s reputable store near me but bearing in mind they haven't grown in 6 months I have a feeling they may be cherry barbs after looking at a picture of both closely plus they are about the max size for a cherry barb

Here is one

I would say thats a rosy barb. Maybe they are stunted from too many fish in too small a tank.

When I bought them they were advertised as growing to 2 inches and I would hardly say there isn't enough space half the time you will see 10 max as the rest are round the back of the tank bit if they are then I shall leave it as is and not add any more fish
Thanks for the help
