I have a 45 gallon tank which is 36' in length. I want to replace the plastic cover with a glass cover so I can place an LED light fixture. At this time my thank has a plastic cover support brace in the middle top. Since I won't be needing the plastic cover, I want to cut it off. Will this affect my tank?

Tanks have a centre brace to stop the glass bowing out and ultimately giving way. I don't think you want to mess with it or you may end up with a cracked tank and a huge mess to clean up.

I don't think you want to mess with that center brace. It may not look like much but they are there for a reason. You can get glass tops to fit each half of the tank.
