Ok geologists, I need some help here. I tested some very nice cave making rocks with a muriatic and nitric acid mixture I found in my husbands gold testing kit. I squirted it all over the rock, on the reddish parts and on the yellowish parts and nothing. No fizzing at all. Does that mean this rock is safe for my tank? I was concerned if it is iron (the reddish part) would that be bad for the fish? I tried to google some info about iron but couldn't quite find the answer. One place was saying that iron is good for the plants. If anyone has any knowledge in this area it would be appreciated!! Thanks!

ps. Does acid go bad cause it is about 7 or 8 years old???
