This guy needs help

Can anyone ID what species this is and what that sore might be? And his eyes don't look right either. Someone took him in from someone else, neither have been doing right by him. I know that tank is too small for him.

Correct.

It's one of those fish you see massive in public aquariums.

Really not meant for tanks.

Like a couple thousand gallons. We are talking a 3+ foot catfish that can weigh 20+ pounds.

Looks like over 6 inches and not enough should answer that.
