Well its not just on the base rock, i found it on equipment as well. This was going on in a reef tank which was being poorly run by me a few years ago. I gave up, and am thinking of restarting. But got to looking at the base rock i had and remembered those tiny dots. I also have seen it in other fish stores but it showed up on the walls of the tank. Almost look like tiny mollusks about the size of a pen tip.

Sounds like serpulids. Small featherduster type worms. Completely harmless and they can be brushed off the glass pretty easy.

Yes that may be it, I had feather dusters before and the tank i saw them in the other day at the local fish store also had feather dusters in it. It's just that my base rocks were starting to appear polka dotty. Is there anyway to controll it if it ever happens again? Any animal that can controll it? TY
