Unknown Sand Bug (not typical amphipod)

Hey AA! It's been a long time since I've last posted and I finally need your help once again! This one might be a bit difficult as I've already tried googling to try to figure out what this little guy is. My brothers sand is full of them, they burry in it to hide from the light/fish but if you sift the sand you find a lot of them. They are not a typical amphipod but I was thinking from the same family possible? I'd like to know their actual scientific name. I'm upgrading my pico tank to a 10 gallon and don't want to introduce them until I know what they are. All of them are beige in color and just under a cm in length.

Thanks melosa, I did a few more google searches based on that article but still can't find an exact match. Found a few similar ones but nothing exact. The antenna on all the similar ones seem to be long and go out to the sides while these guys seem to look more like horns of some sort. They also don't swim at all or scury through the water. They just crawl around in the sand. If I drop them from above they curl into a ball until they reach the sand.

Thanks Mr X!...I think I would group these guys with the Tanaidaceans. I'll have to inspect their heads a little closer next time I visit my brother.
