I was just at the hardware store and they had this neato Light timer that fits in a regular light-switch box. You just wire it into your house power and then wire the outlet or light you want to control into it. It is digital and you can run different programs over a period of weeks! All this and it was $14.

I'm currently building my aquarium stand so I plan on building it right into the side and running an outlet inside the cabinet for both of my lights. I was worried about what wattage load it could handle but after I opened it I realize that the timer was just running a rather large relay so it should be able to handle just about anything you plug into it.
