Probably protein deposits from waste in the main tank, or is it red?

looks like a gray colour this is not a saltwater tank its just a tropical tank

It is accumulated waste from your tank.

If you adjust your return line from the tank to add a little surface ripple in the sump it will help to break up the slime on the water.

can i put my preg fish in their till they give birth as theirs no way they can get to the pump ?
