brand and quality has a lot to do with it
i cant make out the brand of the 2 up top
but i can see the bottoms a koralia which is a well trusted brand
cheap pumps last maybe a year as good pumps can last 5 years

So you recommend going for the Koralia to begin with and not bother with the knock-offs?

i would go with Koralia's over any knock off
more dependable and a lot quieter ive used cheap power heads before and they made more noise and buzzing sounds they drove me nuts i wound up replacing them with in 6 months, i like the quiet as my tank is in my living room

Yeah mine will be in my living room also, however so is an FX6, they don't get much louder than that.

In koralia's case, it's all about the quality. Its a high quality very affordable pump and works amazingly well for many people. I bought a jaebo wave maker and while it does what it's advertised to do quite well, there's no idea about its longevity and it absolutely makes more noise than any of my coralias do.

I've been looking about for Koralia's.

Every forum I find has people saying that the Nano 900 is rated in GpH..

The official description for it says LpH..

I was going to get a Nano 900-1600 but is this GpH or LpH?


One of the forums had someone talking about the Nano 240 and saying that the flow is less than he expected...

Water Pumps & Wavemakers: Hydor Koralia Nano 240 & 425

I used 2 of the 240s in my 20g reef and it was acceptable, but not quite enough for what I was wanting.
