These are a couple of snails I picked up rrom the beach, one is pretty and the other is quite weird. Let me know if you have any ideas as to what these are.

The first snail fits into a normal sized shell but when it is completely out it actually engulfs it's shell into it's foot. WOW!

Don't think it is a margarita. I will take some more photos of it. Any idea's on the larger snail? I would like to sell it

The foot in the second picture is only about 1/4 of its foot. This is the craziest snail I have ever seen in my life.

The first two pics appear to be a Moon Snail, last two are a conch, probably a fighting conch type.
The moon snail is a mollusk predator. Have you ever noticed how some of the scallop shells on the beach seem to have a little pencil lead sized hole drilled into them? The moon snail drills that little hole and then sticks it's proboscis through the hole and eat the animal inside.
I don't know much about the conch, but I'm guessing it's probably like most others and eats algae from open sand flats.
I'm really hoping you let the snails go after finding them as they are getting harder and harder to find in that area and neither one probably live long in a tropical tank (being temperate species) and the moon snail would probably kill and eat all your other snails. I grew up on the NC coast and use to find the shells of these all the time.

im with ratrik it prob wont live in your tank plus not knowing exacly wat they are and being wild they could do more harm with fish and diseases in your tank that good plus if everyone pulled these of the beach it could really hurt our enviorment and trust me on the diseases part i lost alot of fish after a florida trip by bringing back some hermits.

Thanks all, will return to the ocean, saw a couple there that were over 10 inches long, fascinating creatures, but belong in the ocean.
