With all the pet food recalls, and all of the recent "mysterious fish deaths", I wonder if some of that melamine stuff hasn't worked it's way into the fish food industry as well?????

Probably has, but whether it is a concern remains to be seen. A group at the University of Guelph, discovered that melamine and cyanuric acid, form the exact crystals found in the affected animals kidneys. Up till now, it was not known to be a possibility, as no one had tried it. Both substances were found in the tainted food.

Actually, malemine is used in fish food all the time. In more recent articles, it states that its common practice to taint fish food to make it seem that it has more protein. So guess what, if you feed low quality fish food, your fish aren't getting any protein. A handmade diet is the best way to go. Often you can find people in local aquarium clubs who make their own diet and sell it.
