Do you have a test kit like api? If not you need to get one or you'll never know when it finishes the cycle. You will also need it for many other occasions so get one if you can.

There are no chemicals you need to maintain a healthy tank. Maybe after you fill it with coral to the brim will you need to consider adding anything. As long as you do your weekly water change all the elements that your fish and coral need will come from those changes.

how far in advance do i need to prepare the water for the change
what percent of water do i need to change

I change out 3 gallons a week. Sometimes more frequently because of my over stocking.

I usually make my water the night before so it has time for the salt to dissolve. You can use a heater and powerhead in the bucket if you like.

About 10% weekly or 15% bi-weekly are the 2 i hear the most

I do 33% weekly. I know it seems a little overkill but it works for me.
