What happened

I noticed that one of my white cloud wasn't as colorful as he usually is but he had the strange red spots on one side of his body. He was gasping for air at the surface of the tank the he shortly died. It all happened right before my eyes and was kinda crazy. I just added a DIY co2 infuser. Do you think this could have cause this problem?

I'm not sure about what it is, but CO2 wouldn't cause the spots. It might cause the gasping. What size tank?

It's a 29 gal. Its planted too. I have a test kit that tests ph, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite but I can't check my phosphorus or my water hardness. I have recently battled bba. Could that be a player?
