I need help identifying this algae. What can I do to get rid of it?

Looks like black brush algae.. Nasty business.. I'm still fighting it.. Tell me about your tank, how long the lights on?

Have a 55 gal organic dirted tank capped with sand. Have dual t8 on about 8hrs. Fluval 304 and a small power head for added flow. Also running pressurized co2.

Cpl months one is 6500k and the other is a blue attnic

I think you need to rethink your lighting, it sounds like your running co2 for an extremely low light tank, how's plant growth? Perhaps it's benefitting the algae more than the plants?? I'm not expert but I'm guessing the plants are struggling.. Light is needed for photosynthesis.. While the 6500k is great for the plants the blue is not so great.. It's more for corals or cichlid tanks..

Plants are actually doing pretty well. I have a single t8 that I bought for the blue. I wanted it to help bring out color of fish. So u think I should put the two 6500k bulbs back in the daul fixture and the blue back in the single and put them on different timers. And have u tried Siamese algae eater?
