Is that the Carnation coral? I've heard they are very hard to take care of.

Yup looks like a DAMICORNIS coral to me... If it is it is kit too hard to keep with moderate light and moderate water flow...

Haha so I have 3 different names here, can we come to a consensus?

Well one things is clear either way...it's gonna be hard to take care of, or atleast have many demands

If this is like the one I saw at the LFS then it's not the poncillopora; I believe they had it labelled as Carnation coral...lemme see if I can dig up the article I read the other day on these fellas

Ok tried to find to article but no luck :(

If this is not a Carnation then I will definitely pass the info along to the LFS.

Is it a hard coral or soft coral?
And you have 2 names. Carnation - soft coral or pocillopora.damicornis (genus.species) - hard coral, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's a damicornis. There are many different species of pocillopora and many can only be accurately identified under a microscope.

It's an SPS coral of that clears up any problems or questions!
