just got this pleco today, just wanted to know exactly what kind it is, was told it was a common pleco, but it looks nothing like my common one I have now, or any of the other plecos that they had. It is white in color and has black spots on its body and on its dorsal fin it has black lines and black spots.(though while he was in the container he started getting darker in color) these are the only pics I could get...sorry...
what kind of pleco is this?

Impossible to say by that picture.
A clearer top shot with the addition of a side shot showing the dorsal rays would be good. Since they lock their fins when they are angry, picking him up out of the water should give you a good pictures.

I have to agree, it is almost impossible to tell. He looks like he may very well be a common pleco but can not be sure at all from that pic.
